Kings Nympton Primary School

Curriculum

The school is divided into two classes; Class 1 for Foundation Stage with Years 1 and 2 and Class 2 for Years 3, 4, 5 and 6.  At present Class 2 is split into two teaching groups for the majority of the school day.  We aim to keep the child:adult ratio as low as possible.

Our four year programme of learning has been carefully based on the National Curriculum, the Foundation Stage Curriculum and the Literacy and Numeracy Strategies.   Work plans are discussed with the children. Planning and assessment are closely linked.  Each child's achievement and individual needs are taken into account when planning for future learning.  All areas of the National Curriculum are covered as part of our broad and balanced curriculum.

Further details of what and how we teach are available at school.

We have separate policies on:

Religious Education and Collective Worship - parents may exercise their right of withdrawal from these activities.  Pupils who are withdrawn will read in the library.

Sex Education - parents are informed of our plans.  Parents have the right to withdraw children from all or part of the sex education programme except that which forms part of the science national curriculum.
